JUVEYS # 7, PAGES 10-12

Recently on the Pride High Board there has been some interesting discussions about super-villains: what makes a super-villain.

In issue # 7 of my unpublished comic book Juveys, there is a discussion of that very subject, and the reactions to it. Juveys is set on Kaiser Island, a juvenile detention center for teen-agers who have used super- powers to commit crimes. Here they are punished for their crimes, but are also taught how to use their powers 'responsibly'. Sometimes the lesson takes, sometimes it doesn't. All the inmates on Kaiser Island wear power-inhibitors, collars which reduce their powers to managable (i.e., barely usable) levels.

The first half of issue 7 is titled "Father and Son Reunion." In it one of the most incorrigible of the Juveys reconciles with his parents after a long estrangement. Immediately after this touching scene, the complex is strafed by mercenaries in a helicopter, who also drop a bomb on the complex. Their powers restored to full, the Juveys turn the helicopter into component parts, and also do a number on the mercenaries. While Tony visits with his folks, four other inmates put their heads together and decide that the intended victim of the bombing is Miss Clef, a heroine whom they rescued from a demonic dimension in an earlier issue. They hurry to the library to research Miss Clef's enemies, and find warden Mr. Egan and librarian Miss Winchley already surfing the net. Just as Miss Winchley pulls up the information, Miss Loque, Miss Clef's lover, enters and announces that the super-villain they are looking for is her mother. This ends part one; part two follows.

I am not an artist, and although I tried to illustrate these three pages, I found that my hand was shaking (what's that about?) Therefore I clipped images from the game The Sims 2 to illustrate. The images are poor and somewhat boring, but these three pages are just 'talking heads', so I went with it. I hope you can endure the poor graphics and get into the story.

The characters in panel one, clockwise from the man on the far left, are:
Mr. Egan, headmaster / supervisor / warden of Kaiser Island. His powers are mysterious, but he has some.
Lloyd "Telescope" Kelly, who has strange eyes and incredible vision abilities.
Liz "Elastic Lass / Liz / Lez" Howard, who can stretch her body to amazing boneless lengths.
Lucinda "Lock" Loque, the heroine who can stop time. She is a teacher / guard.
Harriet "Key" Clef, who can open doorways through space. The Juveys rescued her from a demonic dimension, and she is now recovering her strength on Kaiser Island.
Rita "Ramblin' Rose" Walker, who can control plant growth.
Cody "Ace High" Boston, whose only power is flight, but brother can he fly! He is the main character in Juveys, and is also openly gay. He has managed to befriend the biggest homophobe on the island, Tony "Dyno-Guy" di Angelo.
Miss Winchley, the librarian, about whom there are some peculiar mysteries, too. When Lloyd tries to X-Ray her, he is blinded by a brilliant light and ends up with green spots before his eyes. Miss Winchley's twin sister is the office clerk.
